I'm currently mourning my last great friendship from grad school, which seems to have more or less died of late. Very hard to replace. =(

I like the fact that I've made friends in every place I've lived throughout my education and academic employment career. When I go to a meeting, I see friends from various stages of my life, and this is extremely fun. Yes, I wish I were still in geographic proximity to some/many, but there are good things about having friends all over the world.

This can be such a bummer. It's one of my least favorite things about working in science.
