Yes, I’m still alive

April 26, 2007

I’ve been keeping busy, travelling here and there, visiting airports huge and tiny, flying back and forth across the country in search of the perfect job. The outcome is still far from decided, but I’m having a great time (when not complaining about a sore back, airplane-induced colds, and changes of time zone). The great thing about interviews is that I have had the chance to meet LOTS and LOTS of new people, all of whom have told me a bit about their research and learned a bit about mine. I feel like my connectivity to the broader research community has shot up by hundreds of percents.

I also got to have a coffee with Skookumchick and lunch with FemaleCSGradStudent, both excellent people I am happy to have met at long last in person.

And now… a couple of last trips and then some waiting to do, until I find out who wants to offer me a job.

  4. A challenging question for you: what compound gets warmer as temperature decreases, otherwise nothing else changes in its “functional” state? Example: a tree (the compound) will still be a tree (w/leaves etc.), but its temperature increases as the air temperature decreases.

  9. What is a SA? “Dr. Shellie” is a pseudonym, and I am a scientist in an unspecified field. Right now I am a postdoctoral researcher at a university in the US. In the fall I will be an assistant professor at another university.
